PTO - Purpose
The Deutsche Samstagsschule Houston, Inc. (German Saturday School Houston, Inc.) (the “School”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the German language and fostering an appreciation of German-speaking cultures. The School fulfills its mission primarily through high-quality German language instruction for children from preschool through high school, complemented by a rich cultural program that celebrates traditions, history, and community.
To further support this mission, the Elternbeirat (Parent-Teacher Organization / PTO) has been established as a collaborative body of parents and volunteers committed to strengthening the School community. The Elternbeirat works in close partnership with school leadership and faculty to enhance the educational experience and promote a welcoming, engaged, and vibrant environment for students and families.
The Elternbeirat supports the School through:
- Fundraising initiatives that directly benefit educational and cultural programs
- Facilitating communication between parents and the School
- Organizing cultural events and community-building activities
- Creating opportunities for parents to connect and engage
- Coordinating volunteer efforts
- Providing additional support as requested by the School
The Elternbeirat strives to:
a) Develop and nurture a strong connection between school and home by encouraging active parent involvement.
b) Enhance the educational experience by supporting academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and community-building activities.
Through partnership, engagement, and shared commitment, the Elternbeirat helps sustain and strengthen the unique community of the Deutsche Samstagsschule Houston.
